Expect Excellence best describes the (CAAP) Council of African American Parents’ expectation of its student scholars. The program is a college preparatory schema based solely in academics, test preparation, study skills, cultural enrichment, self-awareness and confidence building from 6th through 12th grade. In its 20-year history over 2,000 students have come through the CAAP/PALS program and have gone on to Medical, Law and impressive Graduate programs across the country and abroad. The recent addition of our Elementary Program allows us to now serve student scholars 4rd grade and up. CAAP is a non-profit organization.

Our mission to enhance the educational opportunities of students through academics, social activities and cultural awareness remain at the forefront of our organizational agenda. Our menu of services for scholars and parents is reflected in our ability to develop and implement programming that supports our mission.

Our most recent venture was to serve as the lead organization of the Legacy Roundtable Collaborative, a cadre of community based collegiate and business leaders who worked together to develop a Summer Algebra Readiness Program in the Rialto Unified School District. The primary goal of the Algebra Summer Institute was to increase awareness and interest about math to fifty 8th grade African American males and to follow this cohort until
high school graduation. In year two algebraic concepts continued to be taught from a culturally relevant perspective, mentoring, speaker’s series, field trips and a one-week residential program at the University of California, Riverside were added to promote motivation and math competence. The project was a phenomenal success and we are
actively seeking opportunities to collaborate with others with like goals to ensure that no child is left behind.

We are extremely grateful for your support of CAAP by participating in our programs — it really does take a village to raise a child.

Thank you again!
